Created in 1994 through the merger of Dalhousie Ward and Wellington Ward, Somerset Ward covers Lebreton Flats, the Golden Triangle, Chinatown, Centertown, Little Italy and Downtown Ottawa. Somerset Ward is a diverse community and Ottawa’s most densely populated ward.
Somerset Ward is the home of major events like Capital Pride and Bluesfest, a destination for foodies and the hub for live music with venues like The Bronson Centre and The National Arts Centre.
Federally Somerset Ward is represented by MP Yasir Naqvi. Provincially Somerset Ward is represented by MPP Joel Harden.
